Barminco commences additional development work at the Nova Project to access Bollinger

Leading underground hard-rock mining contractor Barminco Holdings Limited (Barminco or the Company) and Independence Group NL (IGO) have today jointly announced the commencement of works to develop the Bollinger section of the Nova project, 160 road-km north-east of Norseman.

The project follows IGO’s announcement late last month that the first development ore has been mined at the $443 million Nova project, with Barminco achieving 5.5km of underground development at the site, including the 1.5km-long haulage decline and a parallel ventilation decline.

The new development accessing the Bollinger section of the orebody will bring the production from this area on line earlier than anticipated, giving the mill at Nova additional production. It is anticipated that this Bollinger ore will help during the ‘ramp up’ phase, not only bringing more ore on faster but also allowing the blending of ore from Bollinger and Nova and providing a more consistent mill feed.

Building on the relationship and success that the project has delivered thus far, Barminco will take on the additional work of the new Bollinger development. This work will add approximately 5kms of additional development into the term of the existing contract.

Barminco Chief Executive Officer Peter Stokes said the commencement of the Bollinger work is a testament to the capabilities of our people on site which remains lost time injury-free and ahead of schedule.

“Barminco will be purchasing additional underground equipment such as Jumbos, loaders and trucks and anticipates hiring a further 20 people to deliver on the Bollinger scope, further highlighting the importance of this world class project."
