Barminco Limited values a safe
and healthy work environment and is committed
to ensure work is conducted in a manner that
reduces and eliminates risk of injury to employees.
Management have the prime responsibility to
implement this policy and shall consider and
include health and safety requirements into all
work activities.
The company shall ensure that management systems
for health and safety are consistent with international
best practice and are implemented across all
business units.
A team effort by all personnel under the control
of Barminco Limited shall be encouraged to contribute
to improving workplace health and safety, and
co-operation and feedback with management and
the client necessary to achieve the implementation
of associated policies, rules and procedures
and meet our safety management objectives.

Barminco Limited is committed
to providing contracting and consulting services
which are seen to be amongst the best in the
mining industry. Our objective is to ensure the
controlled growth of the company through our
reputation for doing the work in accordance with
the clients expectations.
To help us achieve our quality objectives we
have introduced an integrated management system
which not only meets the relevant mining acts
and regulations and the Quality Standard AS/NZS
ISO:9001-2000 but also provides us with the basis
for continual improvement.
The management of Barminco Limited are committed
to the concept of excellence and actively encourage
all staff to be involved in meeting our corporate
objectives by using and continually improving
our systems.

it policy
Barminco Limited have made
a commitment to providing employees with the
relevant technology to be able to perform the
duties required of them in the most efficient
manner. As such a majority of employees within
the company have access to both email and internet
facilities.
In line with these facilities being made available
Barminco also has adopted a policy that whilst
reasonable use of the internet and computer systems
for private use is acceptable, it is considered
unacceptable for such use during work hours and
to access explicit material that could have a
negative impact on the Company.
Consequently Barminco will implement a policy
of monitoring the email and internet system on
an as required basis (that is where allegations
or a suspicion of serious misconduct has occurred).
In the circumstance that monitoring does occur
of an employees account, the employee will be
notified of the results of such an action.
Barminco Limited will continue to adopt a tolerant
approach to use of the email and internet system
provided that all employees also adopt a mature
and professional approach to this system.

alcohol & drug policy
Barminco Limited acknowledge
our responsibility to provide a safe and healthy
work environment for all people on all our sites,
and to ensure as far as practicable that all
employees are fit to carry out their work safely
and productively at all times.
Our objective is to prevent accidents by eliminating
substance abuse in the workplace and to ensure
relevant Acts and Regulations are understood
and addressed.
To achieve these objectives we provide training
to management and staff on how to detect possible
problems, and a detailed procedure on how to
deal with employees found to be under the influence
of alcohol or drugs has been implemented.
Additionally all staff are screened before commencing
work, made aware of our alcohol and drug policy
and procedures and are subject to random screening
as per the company procedure and employees letters
of offer.

environmental policy statement
Barminco Limited believes that
effective environmental control is an integral
part of well managed operations. Efficient and
profitable operations go hand in hand with comprehensive
and effective environmental protection programs.
The ultimate objective is to re-establish each
site to a safe and stable condition with all
environmental, heritage and conservation values
intact.
To achieve these objectives we will:
- Prepare an environmental impact
study for all sites where we are the primary
mining operator and incorporate all associated
costs in the budget.
- Work closely with the client on environmental
issues where we are a contractor.
- Develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive
environmental management plan for each operation,
which sets objectives for continual improvement
and adoption of best practice.
- Provide adequate training to enable employees
to recognise the potential impact of their
activities, and to monitor the state of the
environment throughout the operation.
- Design, operate and decommission all sites
and associated infrastructure to avoid any
adverse environmental impact.
The management of Barminco Limited are committed
to the environment and actively encourage all
staff to be involved in meeting our environmental
objectives.

indigenous people policy
statement
Barminco Limited respects the
traditions and cultures of Indigenous People
and recognises the unique relationship that Indigenous
People have to both land and sea. Barminco Limited
believes that effective management of indigenous
matters forms an integral part of successful
operations.
Barminco's principles in dealing with indigenous
people are:
- The building of trust and respect.
- Respect for human rights, property rights, and
sites of cultural or religious significance.
- Adherence to acceptable protocols and meeting
procedures that are endorsed by indigenous people.
Barminco Limited will comply with Acts and Regulations
relating to indigenous people in the states and
countries in which we operate and expect our
managers to be educated and active in providing
culturally sensitive training to ensure employees
recognise the potential impact of their activities.

Workplace Relations Policy
Barminco's Workplace Relations Policy can be summarised as follows:
Barminco is committed to providing a harmonious
place of work for its employees within the bounds
of any applicable Awards or Individual or Collective
Agreements. Where appropriate, Barminco will
endeavour to pre-plan its operations and commence
discussions direct with the relevant unions as
early as possible in order to minimise any unexpected
industrial problems. This will generally involve
the use of face to face briefings with the respective
Union Representatives.
To ensure a coordinated
workplace relations approach is adopted, individual
sub contractors engaged by Barminco will be
required to submit an Employee Relations Management
Plan for the scope of their work for Barminco's
approval. Barminco will only approve plans that
are consistent with Barmincoís own workplace relations policy. Barminco will monitor implementation
of sub-contractorís plans and will require
subcontractors to implement corrective action
if non-conformance with the plans is detected.
Further, as a member of Australian Mines and
Metals Association (AMMA), Barminco has access
to the use of AMMA, a body specialising in Workplace Relations matters to liaise between Barminco,
Unions and any other parties.

Barminco's key workplace relations
objectives are to:
- Provide a harmonious work environment which
is conducive to both keeping employees content
and achieving management's operational
goals.
- Prevent or minimise any industrial problems with
Barmincoís employees.
- Achieve no lost time due to industrial action.
- Promote effective use of our dispute resolution
policy at all times.
- Attempt to isolate Barminco's
activities from any external union activity
or industrial disputes.
- Resolve any disputes quickly and efficiently.

noise control policy
Barminco
Limited's primary
aim is to reduce the noise exposure of personnel
to acceptable safe levels in accordance with
relevant regulations and best practice. Under
present regulations the aim is to reduce noise
exposure to less than the action level of LAeq
of 85 dB(A).
Noise sources that produce impulsive noise exceeding
the peak level of 140 dB(lin) are to undergo
noise control where practicable, and where this
is not possible, warning signs and protective
equipment are to be provided.
Suitable hearing protection will be provided
at selected locations on sites where there is
a risk of hearing damage, and employees will
be informed of noise risks. Employees have a
duty to wear protective equipment when required
and to have consideration of other personnel
when operating noisy equipment.
Audiometric testing is
offered to employees according to the requirements
of the Mines Safety & Inspection
Regulations 1995, Regulation 3.26 (d) (Health
Surveillance).
A noise specification is to be issued for the
purchase of all items of mobile and fixed plant
likely to produce noise levels above the action
level at operator or bystander positions. Suppliers
of fixed and mobile equipment are to provide
a test certificate of measured noise levels as
per the specifications, prior to delivery of
the machine. Where the equipment noise levels
at the operator position exceed the action level,
all practicable noise control is to be carried
out by the supplier.
Barminco Employees and Contractors engaged in
any activity on the mine site are to comply with
the noise control and personal hearing protection
procedures of the mine site.
Temporary work areas are to have all practical
noise control carried out and appropriate warning
signs and protective equipment provided where
there is a risk of noise induced hearing loss.

fatigue policy
Barminco Limited commits to
ensuring that roster arrangements are reviewed
in line with applicable guidelines.
Barminco also commits to providing education
to employees to assist them to manage their recuperation
period effectively. The company also provides
a Responsible Person on site for employees to
discuss issues with if necessary.
Barminco actively encourages employees to take
an active part in managing fatigue by ensuring
that they present themselves to work in a fit
state.

privacy policy
Barminco is committed to protecting
the privacy of all individuals in accordance
with the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended) (Act).
Terms used in this document have the meaning
given to them in the Act.
As required by the National
Privacy Principle (NPP) 5 at Schedule 3 of
the Act, this document sets out Barmincoís
policies on its management of personal information.
This policy applies to all members of the Barminco
group of companies.
COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Barminco only collects
private information that is necessary for its
functions or activities. Primarily the collection
of private information by Barminco will be
in the context of the recruitment of new employees.
We may also collect information from existing
employees for site clearance purposes, to assess
their needs from a training perspective and/or
for the purpose of progressing insurance claims.
In all cases Barminco adheres to the NPPís
in the collection and management of the relevant
information.
Usually the information
will be collected in the first instance from
the individual themselves, however it is possible
that Barminco will, with the individualís
consent, collect personal or sensitive information
from someone else, for example, a medical or
police clearance or a drug or alcohol test.
If we do collect information from third parties
the individual in question is entitled to be
made aware of:
- How to contact us;
- The fact that they are able to access such information
(see below);
- The purposes for which we have collected this
information;
- The types of organisation to which we would usually
disclose such information;
- Any laws which require us to collect such information
(eg PAYE tax legislation); and
- The main consequences for you if all or part
of the information is not provided to us.
DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Barmincoís policy is not to disclose
personal information to non-related persons or
other entities without the relevant individualís
consent, unless we are required to do so by law.
However, given the nature
of our industry, it is not uncommon for our
clients to request us to disclose to them personal
or sensitive information about our employees
or potential employees where to do so is required
for the individual to gain initial or continued
access their site. In such cases the individualís
consent is required and the client will generally
provide their own standard consent form for
this purpose.
ACCESS TO AND COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
On request Barminco will take reasonable steps
to let an individual know, generally:
- The sort of personal information we hold about
them;
- For what purpose; and
- How we collect, hold, use and disclose that information.
In order to do this, Barminco will first require
proof of identity and may charge a fee to cover
our administrative costs in searching for, collating
and (if requested and considered appropriate)
copying the information.
There are certain circumstances where we are
not required to provide you with access to personal
information. This includes where to do so would
reveal evaluative information generated by us
in connection with a commercially sensitive decision
making process. The other exceptions are set
out in NPP 6, a copy of which may be accessed
from the website of the Office of the Federal
Privacy Commissioner.
