Barminco - Proud to be a major partner of the West Coast Eagles AFLW team
Barminco announced today that it has entered a four-year partnership with the West Coast Eagles Football Club as a major sponsor for their inaugural AFLW team which enters the competition in season 2020.
Barminco Chief Executive Officer Paul Muller said: “ I am delighted to announce our partnership with the West Coast Eagles. Our discussions have led both organisations to learn we have a very strong shared sense of team and strong alignment in our values which has been critical in us formalising our partnership. Like hard-rock underground mining, football at the elite level has been dominated by men for a long time. We are on a shared journey and, like the West Coast Eagles, we aspire to be more inclusive, to attract the best talent available and to increase the participation of women to contribute to our success.”
Mr Muller said “We are excited to work with the West Coast Eagles in support of the Club, their AFLW team and of individual athletes at the elite level, both on and off the field. We hope that this will include possible placements in Barminco roles during the off-season, as well as other career and capability building opportunities.”
As well as providing direct to support to the Eagles’ new AFLW team, Barminco aims to increase awareness among women and girls that underground mining is a great career path and to increase the opportunities for and the number of women participating in the business. We also hope that our partnership with the Eagles team will encourage more girls and young women to consider STEM pathways and university courses that may lead to a career in underground mining/mine engineering.
This important partnership supports our plans to make Barminco an even more diverse and inclusive workplace and together, we are breaking new ground in both mining and in football. We are excited about developing our relationship with the club and with individual players as we work towards a position of leadership in our different industries.
